Most IPTV player apps include parental controls: you set a PIN (sometimes called a parental control password), then lock categories or individual channels so they require the PIN to open. The controls live in the player, not the TV service, so you set them up separately in each app and on each device.
Setting a PIN
- Open the player's Settings and look for Parental control, Parental lock or PIN.
- If the app ships with a default PIN, change it immediately. Default PINs differ by app and are widely published, so they offer no protection.
- Choose a PIN that isn't a birthday or
0000/1234.
Locking categories and channels
- Most players let you lock whole categories (groups) such as movies or specific genres. That's the easiest way to cover new channels automatically.
- Some also let you lock individual channels or hide categories entirely.
- Check on-demand sections separately; they often have their own lock settings.
If you forget the PIN
There's usually no universal reset code. Options are the app's own recovery method (if it has one), clearing the app's data on Android devices, or reinstalling the app. Both of the last two remove your playlists and settings, so keep your login details handy.
Device-level controls
- Use your TV or streaming device's own controls to require a PIN for purchases or for opening specific apps.
- On Google TV, a kids profile lets a parent choose which apps are available. On Android TV, you can block specific apps from your settings.
- On iPhone and iPad, Screen Time can limit apps and content. On Apple TV, use Restrictions in Settings; Apple notes they may not apply inside third-party apps, so set the player's own lock too.
