How to Set Up an Xtream Codes Login in an IPTV Player

Updated 1 min read

Many IPTV player apps can sign in with an Xtream Codes API login instead of a playlist URL. You enter three details and the app loads the channels, categories and program guide for you.

The three details you need

  • Server URL: the address of the service, including http:// or https:// and a port number if one is given (for example https://server.example:8080).
  • Username: your subscription username.
  • Password: your subscription password.

Some apps also ask for a playlist name. It's only a label on your device, so call it whatever you like, such as “IPTV Hive”.

Adding the login

Menu names differ from app to app, but the flow is almost always the same:

  1. Open the player and look for Add playlist, Add user or Login with Xtream Codes API.
  2. Choose the Xtream Codes option rather than M3U.
  3. Enter the server URL, username and password exactly as provided. They are case-sensitive.
  4. Confirm. The app downloads your channel list and, if available, the program guide. The first load can take a minute.

Fixing common login errors

“Invalid credentials” or “Authorization failed”

  • Retype the username and password by hand. Copy-pasting often adds a hidden space.
  • Check upper- and lower-case letters.
  • Make sure your subscription is active and hasn't expired.

“Server not reachable” or a long spinner

  • Include the protocol (http:// or https://) and the port, if your details include one.
  • Don't add a path such as /get.php unless you were told to. The app adds that itself.
  • Test your internet connection with another app or website.

Channels load but won't play

You may have reached your plan's connection limit on other devices. Stop playback elsewhere and try again. If it still fails, see the playback troubleshooting guide.
