Setting up IPTV takes four things: a broadband connection, a device, a subscription from a licensed provider, and a player app. You install the player on your device, enter the login or playlist your provider gives you, and your channels appear with a TV guide.
1. Check your internet connection
Stability matters more than headline speed. If possible, connect the device by Ethernet or use 5 GHz Wi-Fi. See setting up your home network for IPTV for practical tips.
2. Pick your device
Start with what you have. Many smart TVs, streaming sticks, phones and computers can run IPTV players, but some platforms have limited app stores. See watching IPTV on a smart TV and our devices page.
3. Choose a licensed service
Look for a named company, clear terms and realistic pricing. Our guide on how to tell whether an IPTV service is licensed explains what to look for. IPTV Hive's plans are on the plans page.
4. Install a player app
Choose a player from your device's official app store that supports the login type your provider uses. Read how to choose an IPTV player or compare options on our player apps page.
5. Enter your details
- Xtream Codes login: server URL, username and password. See the Xtream setup guide.
- M3U playlist URL: a single link. See What is an IPTV playlist?.
6. Load the TV guide
Xtream logins usually load the guide automatically. With M3U, you may need to add an EPG URL. See setting up and fixing the TV guide.
7. If something doesn't work
- Login errors: Xtream Codes guide.
- Buffering: fix IPTV buffering.
- Nothing plays at all: Is IPTV down?.
